Health care for a growing world population ranks as one of the most complex issues facing governments and citizens in developed and developing nations in 2016. The South Dakota World Affairs Council has chosen global health as its annual symposium theme. The symposium will be Jan. 28-29 at the University Student Union’s Volstorff Ballroom on the South Dakota State campus.
SDWAC aims to bring local residents a perspective of the opportunities and challenges affecting people in all corners of the world who aspire to live healthy and productive lives.
The 2016 spring semester Harding Distinguished Lecture opens the two-day event. Katherine Bliss will present Governing Global Health in an Interconnected World at 7 p.m., Jan. 28. Bliss is a senior associate with the Global Health Policy Center at the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Strategic and International Studies, where she has led research regarding the role of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and other emerging economies in shaping a new global health agenda.
